Hardware Rendering

What about more hardware rendering support and a more visual shader and lighting UI?

K-3D is smoothly becoming a multi-purpose modeller, thus can't take into account every shading type for each supported modeller. Let's look at RenderMan: the great thing about RenderMan is that its general-purpose shading language gives you complete flexibility in shading and lighting. The bad thing about RenderMan is that its general-purpose shading language gives you complete flexibility in shading and lighting - meaning that it can be impossible to try and duplicate their effect in the editor interface.

The best hope for improving the fidelity of previews is going to lie with OpenGL shading language, or a RenderMan-enabled OpenGL (which does exist in research, and would have to be included as part of the app).
