gtkglext and missing pango symbols
We've received several reports of startup problems related to gtkglext and pango, see:

It appears that gtkglext is using symbols from pango that were deprecated in gtk 2.6 and removed in 2.8, see:
- Strangely, I don't seem to be having problems with this combination on Gentoo, I am using
- * x11-libs/gtkglext-2.8.6-r1
- * x11-libs/gtk+-2.6.10-r1

- As followup, it turns-out that Gentoo Linux is patching gtkglext to make it work, see:
