Procedural Modeling

From K-3D

Jump to: navigation, search

K-3D is a procedural application, which means that it does a lot more than transforming meshes: it stores all of the steps that went into creating them.

Those modeling steps are stored as a network of modeling filters, represented by the Visualization Pipeline.

This is usually more compact, and definitely much more flexible, but it can mean that creating the final mesh is a little more difficult.

Using filters makes it possible to animate parameters (such as the parameters of mesh-creation nodes) that couldn't be animated in a non-procedural modeler.
