K-3D is free-as-in-freedom 3D modeling and animation software. It features a plugin-oriented procedural engine for all of its content, making K-3D a very versatile and powerful package.
K-3D excels at polygonal modeling, and includes basic tools for NURBS, patches, curves and animation. Give it a try!

November 8, 2009 - The K-3D team is pleased to announce the launch of Planet K-3D, which aggregates news from a variety of sources, including the K-3D forums, blogs, wiki, and source repository. We encourage the community to use Planet K-3D as their "one stop" to find-out what's new and happening in the world of K-3D.


K-3D Unveils Developer Blogs
October 15, 2009 - The K-3D project now provides Official K-3D Blogs for our developers, as a tool for collaboration and an opportunity to keep the community up-to-date on their projects and ideas.


K-3D Switches to New Forums
September 29, 2009 - The K-3D project has begun a new set of K-3D Forums as a replacement for the original SourceForge-hosted forums. We invite all community members to bring their K-3D related questions, problems, and ideas to the new forums!


K-3D Hosted by the Open Source Lab at Oregon State University
September 21, 2009 - The K-3D project thanks the OSU Open Source Lab for their generosity in hosting K-3D's web, wiki, bug, blog, forum, and other services. OSU's world-class hosting provides K-3D with "space to grow" as we continue our work to develop "Seven Degrees of Freedom" software for professional artists.


K-3D Joins Software Freedom Conservancy
May 27, 2009 - K-3D becomes the seventeenth member of the Software Freedom Conservancy, a nonprofit organization supporting Free Software projects. Membership in the Conservancy brings many benefits to K-3D, including the ability to receive tax-exempt Donations where allowed by law.


Google Summer of Code 2008 Report
Last year's Google Summer of code was a big hit! Several new plugins were created: Nurbs curves and surfaces tools, Material Manager, Importer and Exporters and CUDA mesh and bitmaps plugins.

K-3D 0.7 Released!
K-3D 0.7 has a new, cross-platform build system based on CMake, and major improvements in scalability and performance. Up to now Binaries are provided for Win32. Later we are planning for Linux and Mac OSX. Check the download section.
